Old Navy Fall 2010 Collection Recos

April 22, 2010 at 8:49 pm (Affordable, Business, Casual, RTW, Uncategorized, Under $40) (, )

To summarize…
*Fun tights that are worth the trip to add to your wardrobe for the season;
*The mustard bubble cord skirt is a fun casual option for either business or weekend;
*Colorful trench coats;
*Poncho style neutral knit top is a great versatile option;
*Faux fur vests!

I have an interesting relationship with this brand. For one, I love the pricing and their relationship to Gap. On the other hand I have a hard time with the fit of their shirts and pants and, well, a lot of the garments I find there. But, that is unique to my specific body shape and I won’t let it cloud my judgment about their Fall 2010 collection. This actually has a lot of potential.

What I love about this 3 piece look are the colors. I love color and I really love the contrast between the 3 pieces. I think this is a great option for business casual. Although the bubble skirt is short I would still see this as a potential look for non-client facing positions where attire is casual. But, I do feel that slim thighs & hips are best suited for this look. If you fall in a different category I want to encourage you to look for a different shape but the same color. No matter what shape or body type you have I definitely recommend those tights which are killer!

This is another great piece. Although I would prefer to see this in person so I could better gauge the weight & feel of the fabric. But, true to my roots, I love this again because this is a gorgeous bright red. A perfect piece for those with a bold personality.

This cowl neck wide sleeve knit poncho style top is a great companion for a pair of straight leg trousers. You can add a bold necklace & bangles to offset the neutral colors but stick with a skinny belt. A wide or thick belt can add too much bulk to your look. And don’t forget an amazing pair of heels or wedges. I love the neutrality of this piece. It can be dressed up for the office or dressed down for the weekend. To dress it down just add a narrow leg pant or jean and ballet flats.

Fur. I like the look & feel of real fur and my jury is still out on the faux fur options. But I can only form my best opinion about the quality of a fur by touching it since looking at a picture can be deceiving.

With that being said, I wanted to point out these 2 faux fur vests in their collection for those who are comfortable with the faux. Honestly, once I get a feel for the black option I may purchase this one for my wardrobe.

Finally, this is another one that I actually picked because of the tights. But, overall this is workable look with the exception of the argyle sweater. I would probably add a different cardigan. But don’t get me wrong. I like the cardigan but I think it should be worn with a different look.

Poised Contour: Azzaro

July 20, 2009 at 9:23 pm (Cocktail, Formal, RTW) (, , , , )

The label was established in Paris in 1962 by Tunisian born Loris Azzaro and has been well known amongst the French elite for the bold cut-outs & ornate beading of its pieces. In todays garment marketplace vintage Azzaro is highly coveted (1). Current Creative Director, Vanessa Seward, has kept the Fall 2009 collection true to its roots with this black silk jumpsuit with bishop sleeves and cut out detail at the neckline (2). Add an equally bold cocktail ring and some sparkle to your ears for that J. Lo worthy – entourage inclusive – entrance to any event!
